CBA's DECA team makes record

15 May 2008 — Aycock’s Jessica Davis, Jacob Dewitt, Emily Perkins, Alicia Sodoma, and Lindsey Suggs, and Mrs. Tammy Vail, advisor, recently returned from Atlanta for the DECA International Career Development Conference.

All the students who competed were top sixteen finalists in their event. This was the first time in North Carolina history that one advisor had all of their students make the finals at International Competition.

Jacob Dewitt earned top sixteen in the Entrepreneurship Participating Event and Emily Perkins earned top sixteen in the Fashion Merchandising Promotion event. The team of Davis, Sodoma, and Suggs received second place honors in the DECA/Millikin University Entrepreneurship Promotion Project competition.

To qualify for competition at DECA’s International Career Development Conference, students must be a top winner in their North Carolina competition. Davis, Sodoma, and Suggs qualified to compete in the DECA/Millikin University Entrepreneurship Promotion Event by placing first in their North Carolina competition. In addition to their second place award, the girls also received a $500 cash award.
