Another arson arrest made

17 April 2008 — Investigations by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office have resulted in two arrests.

James Sean Suggs, 37, currently in Pender County Correctional Facility, was charged with burning of state or local government property and placed under $50,000 secured bond. Suggs was arrested for the early morning fire that occurred in January at Charles B. Aycock Birthplace. Suggs is the second suspect arrested in this incident, along with Durwood Eugene Smith III. Investigation into the incident is continuing.

Jose Maria Saguilan, 36, of 384 Landis Road, Stantonsburg, was arrested on Friday, April 11 and charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injuries, and placed under $50,000 secured bond. On that date, deputies responded to a call at his address near Faro. Upon arrival they found Mario Pascual suffering from a stab wound in his lower chest. Mr. Pascual was taken to Wayne Memorial Hospital and admitted for his injuries, and is in serious but stable condition. In the course of the investigation Mr. Saguilan was arrested and charged with the assault on Mr. Pascual. Investigation is continuing.
