INEZ E. LANCASTER Inez Edmundson Lancaster, 85, died Monday afternoon, April 7 at Wayne Memorial Hospital. Inez was born in Wayne County on February 6, 1923 to the late William H. Edmundson and Jennie Yelverton Edmundson. She was married to the late Johnnie Wilbert Lancaster. Inez was a member of Yelverton United Methodist Church. Funeral services were held Thursday, April 10 at 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Mike Williams and the Rev. Greg Mozer officiating. Interment was held Friday at 11 a.m. at Eureka Cemetery. Inez is survived by her daughter, Linda Hamlett of Goldsboro; her granddaughter, Denise Kelly of Goldsboro; and her great-grandson, Cameron. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, William Edmundson, Roy Edmundson and Add Edmundson; and her sisters, Elizabeth Reeves and Louise Edmundson.
GRACE H. SMITH Grace Howell Smith, 90, of Belfast, died Sunday, April 6 at Wayne Memorial Hospital. A native of Wayne County, she was born on June 26, 1917, the daughter of the late Oscar Jarman Howell and Maude Sally Scott Howell. She was the widow of John Lee Smith. She was a charter member of St. Luke United Methodist Church and was a member of the United Methodist Women, and a retired teacher with the Head Start Program of Wayne County. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 9, at St. Luke United Methodist Church, Goldsboro. The Rev. David Harvin officiated. Burial followed in Wayne Memorial Park. Mrs. Smith is survived by her son, John Marshall Smith and wife, Lou Ann Bryan, of Goldsboro; daughters, Linda Smith Ervin and husband, Michael, of Durham, Barbara Smith Herring and husband, Steve, of Clayton, Catherine Smith West and husband, Fred, of Mills River, N.C. Survivors also include her sister, Nancy Howell Graham of Mount Ulla, N.C.; brothers, Admiral G. Howell of Goldsboro, William S. Howell and wife, Molly, of Wilmington; sister-in-law, Frances Howell of Goldsboro; grandchildren, John F. Ervin and wife, Hoa, Emily C. West, Michael S. Herring, Meredith Smith McElmurry and husband, Nathan, Leslie West Buckner and husband, Michael; stepson, Christopher Buckner; great-grandchildren, Bridgette and Benjamin Ervin. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by a brother, The family request that memorials be made to St. Luke United Methodist Church, 1608 E. Pine St., Goldsboro, N.C. 27530, Salem United Methodist Church Joy Club, 2706 Salem Church Road, Goldsboro, N.C. 27530 or American Cancer Society, 930-B Wellness Drive, Greenville, N.C. 27834 or the charity of one's choice. EUGENE STONE Retired Master Sgt. Eugene "Rock" Stone, 73, of Goldsboro, died Thursday, April 3 at Wayne Memorial Hospital. He was born in Proctorville, N.C. on August 10, 1934, to the late Forest and Ella Stone. Rock entered the U.S. Air Force in 1953 and proudly served his country until his retirement in 1983. Rock was a former member of Pinewood Presbyterian Church and was a current member of Family of Faith Community Church in Goldsboro. He was founder and president of Goldsboro based Associated Parcel Service, Inc. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Stone; his daughters, Karen Earnest and husband, John, of Pikeville, Debbie Kimbrell and fiancée, Charles Ginn, of Pikeville; and his son, Ron Stone and wife, Kim, of Lakeville, Minn.; his brother, S.J. Stone and wife, Barbara, of Virginia Beach, Va.; and his sisters-in-law, Sylvia Stone of Lumberton, Patricia Sutton and husband, Charles, of Wilmington. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Karla Carter and husband, Ashley, Lee Singleton and fiancée, Chelle LaBarr, Jennifer Orth and husband, Mike, Michael Kimbrell and fiancée, Melissa Stancell, Laura Reinke and husband, Ryan, Christopher Kimbrell, Joseph Stone, Donnie Kimbrell; and his great-grandchildren, Ashton Carter, Elizabeth Carter, Madison Orth, Ava Kimbrell, Jackson Orth; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Stone; and his son-in-law, Don Kimbrell. Funeral services were held Sunday, April 6 at 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating were pastor John Earnest and Dr. Frank Day. Burial, with full military honors, followed in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Princeton. Memorials may be made in Rock's memory to the Wayne County Relay for Life or the American Heart Association.
JACK ELLIS WILLIFORD Jack Ellis Williford, 56, of Goldsboro, died at Wayne Memorial Hospital Friday evening, April 4. He was born the son of the late Johnny Ellis Williford. He was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Gene Williford. Graveside service were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday morning, April 8, at Selah Christian Church Cemetery. He is survived by his sons, Frankie Ellis Williford of Virginia, John Lucas Williford of Goldsboro, Sherman Ray Davis and wife, Kathy, of Goldsboro; daughter, Amy Delynn Santiago and husband, Carlos, of Goldsboro; mother, Margaret Gray Williford of Princeton; sisters, Edna Carol Snipes and special friend, Willard Holland, of Goldsboro, Susan Diane Dawes and husband, Gerald, of Princeton, Ida Annette Williford of Goldsboro; brothers, Clarence Douglas Williford and wife, Debra Jean, of Goldsboro, Phillip Ray Williford and wife, Patricia Ann, of Princeton, Anthony Lee Williford and wife, Lanette, of Pikeville; grandchildren, Payton Ashley Williford, Masin Ellis Williford, Jason Levi Williford, Michael Chase Parks, Abbigail Leigh Santiago, Samantha Jade Davis, Dominick Mikel Davis; several special nieces and nephews.
