Lady Falcons make good showing against Eastern Wayne

27 March 2008 — The Aycock varsity softball team had an opportunity to show off the ladies’ batting talents this week in a 9-2 ousting of county rival Eastern Wayne.

Ten Lady Falcons combined for a total of twelve hits in the six and a half inning match up on Thursday, while pitcher Autumn Pittman allowed only five hits from the Warriors.

After three innings of a zero tie, the Aycock girls burst forth in the fourth inning, earning five runs. They followed up with four in the fifth, and held the Warriors at zero until the final inning for a 9-2 victory.

Sophomore pitcher Pittman threw for all seven innings. She had five strikeouts, seven hits, one earned run, and walked one batter.

Pittman also had a good night at bat, going 1 for 3 with an RBI on her solo hit. Anna Sullivan had a homerun for the Falcons, going 2 for 3 on Thursday. Brittany Ford was 2-3 with two RBI, and Brooke Edgerton had two hits as well.

Torie Benton sent three runners in with a double on her only hit of the game. Cara Frederick, Amber Baker, Jessica Hare, Shamyka Polite, and Randi Tucker also had a hit each.

The ladies travel to Harnett Central on Friday for three games in the Easter Tournament. They return to regular play on April 2 at North Johnston.
