Aycock golf team places second

20 March 2008 — The Falcons’ golf team had consistently strong performances in two recent conference matches, taking second place both times.

Monday, the Aycock boys carded a team total of 356, placing them behind Hunt and Eastern Wayne, who shared the top spot with 336.

But Aycock’s Austin Forrest earned the winning individual score of the day, with a six-over-par 77, a two point advantage over the next individual player. Charles Cranford shot an 89. Keith Barnes and Kyle Parker each earned 95, and Heyward Jeffreys and Blaine Stafford each shot a 99.

Aycock’s men’s golf team also took second place in a conference match at Southern Wayne last Tuesday.

Lead players for the Falcons were Austin Forrest and Charlie Cranford, who each finished with a score of 79.

Aycock’s second-place team score of 329 was just five points behind top finishing Eastern Wayne.

After two conference matches, Forrest leads the conference with a combined score of 156. Overall, the Aycock team is in third place for the ECC.
