RAYMOND LOFTON
Raymond Lofton, 78, of Saratoga, died Monday, February 25.
Born September 15, 1929, he was a retired farmer. He was preceded in death by his wife and his parents, Channie Barnes Lofton, Adolph and Hattie Lofton.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 1 at 1 p.m. from the L.N. Forbes Original Free Will Baptist Tabernacle, 1800 Lane Street Extension. Elder Donald Loftin will officiate. Interment will follow in the Hamilton Burial Garden, Lane Street Extension.
He is survived by seven daughters, Ollie Lofton of Goldsboro, Bobbie Lofton-Woodard and husband, George, of Wilson, Addie Best and husband, Bobby, of Saratoga, Linda Lofton-Staton and husband, Melvin, of Rocky Mount, Wanda Bullock and husband, Danny, of Wilson, Glenda Smith and husband, James, of Stantonsburg and Hope Pittman of the Saratoga Community; five sons, Raymond Joseph Lofton of Saratoga, Roland Melvin Lofton, Billy Earl Lofton and wife, Irene, of Wilson, Randy Lee Lofton and wife, Shirley, of Fuguay-Varina, N.C., and Randy Dingle of Wilson; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two brothers, Rudolph Lofton of Raleigh, N.C., James Lofton and wife, Rose, of Goldsboro; along with a host of other special relatives and friends, including special friend and caregiver, Evelyn Dingle.
A viewing of Mr. Lofton will take place Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 726 Tarboro St. SW. The family will be present to receive friends at the church Saturday from noon until time of the service at 1 p.m.

GRANT ALLEN WILLIAMS
Grant Allen Williams, 20, died Saturday, Feb. 23, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Grant was born in Solano County, Calif., on Nov. 12, 1987, to Keith Allen Williams and Vicki Williams-Underwood. He was a 2006 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School. Grant had just finished taking his placement exam with the U.S. Army. He was currently employed with Clean Sweep Lawn Care.
A celebration of life service was held on Wednesday evening, February 27, at 7:30 p.m. from the chapel of Howell Funeral Home in Goldsboro with visitation afterward. Graveside services will be held today (Thursday) at 3:30 p.m. at Oakdale Cemetery in Washington, N.C.
He is survived by his mother, Vicki Williams-Underwood and her husband, Tom, of Goldsboro; his father, Keith Williams and his wife, Mary Beth, of Washington, N.C.; two sisters, Kaitlyn M. Williams of Washington, N.C., and Cheryl Koger of Goldsboro; one stepbrother, Stuart Sorrell of Washington, N.C.
He was preceded in death by his maternal step-grandfather, Jack Weiler.
EULA H. BARNES
Eula Lee Holland Barnes, 77, of Lucama, died Thursday, February 21 at Wilson Medical Center.
She was born June 9, 1930. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Herman and Mamie Barnes Holland; her husband, John Brantley Barnes; a brother, William Jarvis Holland; and a sister, Dorothy Jean Marlowe.
Graveside services were conducted Monday, February 25, at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Memorial Park by her brother, Father James Lassiter Barnes.
Surviving are a daughter, Kay Boykin and husband, Alan, of Lucama; five sons, Wayne Barnes and wife, Kay, of Goldsboro, Jimmy Barnes and wife, Elaine, of Wilson, Garry Barnes and wife, Edie, of Elm City, William Barnes and wife, Teresa, of Wilson, Timothy Barnes and wife, Lori, of Bowersville, Ga.; two sisters, Ella Bee Davis of Goldsboro and Freida Talton of Pikeville; three brothers; Ralph Holland of Rocky Mount, Father James Lassiter Holland of Edmundton, Alberta, Canada, Milford Ray Holland of Wilson; 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

ATHA G. HANGER
Atha Gainey Hanger, 76, died Saturday, February 23 at Kitty Askins.
Born October 18, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Milton and Martha Gainey and the widow of the late Milton M. Hanger.
Graveside services were held Tuesday, February 26 at 2 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park with the Rev. Kevin Lowery officiating.
Mrs. Hanger is survived by her son, Lewis Allen Wilkerson of Goldsboro; three daughters, Wendy Smith, of Goldsboro, Atha I. Hanger, of Goldsboro, and Tina Massey, of Belfast; a brother, James Lewis Gainey, of Maryland; three sisters, Mary Ann Coble, of Chapel Hill, Grace Cruse, of LaGrange, and Janet Chase, of Kenly; 10 grandchildren, Kimberley, Brittani, Heather, Tiffany, Tracy, Aaron, Brandon, Paul, David, Michelle, Lisa, and Philip; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was predeceased by one grandchild, Jamie.

MARY E. ARTIS MORRISEY
Mary E. Artis Morrisey, 50, died Sunday, February 17 at SunBridge of Mount Olive.
She was born in Wayne County on October 2, 1957 to the late Thad Artis and Laurina Artis of Wayne County. She was a member of Gospel Tabernacle Church of Deliverance.
Homegoing services were held Saturday, February 23 at 11 a.m. at Gospel Tabernacle Church of Deliverance, Goldsboro, with Bishop Leamon Sykes officiating. Interment followed at the Old Mill Cemetery.
She is survived by eight brothers, Elder John and wife, Jackie, and William and wife, Manor, both of Pikeville, Claude of Washington, D.C., Roger and James and wife, Linda, both of Maryland; Deacon Thad Jr. and wife, Carol, of Pikeville, Donnie and wife, Barbara, of Harrisburg, Pa., Deacon Jerry and wife, JoAnn, of Goldsboro; four sisters, Irene, Jennie and Bernice and husband, Albert, all of Washington, D.C., Dorothy and husband, James, of Maryland; two aunts, Maggie Williams and Helen Coley, both of Wilson; one uncle, Ivory Coley of Goldsboro; and several nieces and nephews.
MAXINE W. SASSER
Maxine Whaley Sasser, 64, died Thursday, February 21 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Maxine was born in Wayne County on October 23, 1943 to Christine Davis Whaley of Pikeville and the late Owen Franklin Whaley. Maxine was in the first graduating class from Charles B. Aycock in 1962. She was a member of Rosewood First Baptist Church for 40 years.
Funeral services were Sunday, February 24 at Rosewood First Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry Bostian and the Rev. Vernon Braswell officiating. Interment was Monday morning at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
In addition to her mother, Maxine is survived by her faithful husband of 43 years, Jasper Glenn Sasser; her son, Timothy Owen Sasser and wife, Shari, of Raleigh; her daughter, Kelly Sasser Jones and husband, Claude “Pete” Jones IV, of Princeton; grandchildren, Melanie Lynn Sasser, Timothy Glenn Sasser, Michaela Glen Smith, Cody Lee Mitchell, Summer Gray Jones and Davis Patrick Jones; her brother, Michael Owen Whaley and wife, Dorothy, of Goldsboro.

ROBERT ‘BOBBY’ SMITH
Robert “Bobby” Smith, 65, of Dudley, died Thursday, February 21.
He was born on January 16, 1943, grew up in Pikeville, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Vietnam where he was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Fore Christ Church. 
Funeral services were held Saturday, February 23, at 7 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Justin Heath and the Rev. Josh Smith officiating. Graveside services were held Sunday, Feb. 24, at 2 p.m. at Pikeville Cemetery.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Ann Smith; five loving daughters, Margaret Baltazar and husband, Justino, of Mount Olive, Candy Rhoten and husband, James, of Kinsgport, Tenn., Michelle Smith of the home, Bobbie Jean Velasquez and husband, Chano, of Mount Olive, Carrie Smith of the home; one son, Jonathan Agnew and wife, Audra, of Strasburg, Va.; nine grandchildren, Andy, Jonathan Sr., Matthew, Lauran, Jimmy, Jordan, Jared, Caitlin and Austin; two foster grandchildren, David and Jason; one great-grandson, Jonathan Jr.; two expected great-grandchildren; a sister, June Smith and husband, Durwood, of Pikeville, and their three children; and his mother-in-law, Margaret Kidd of Dudley.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Kathleen Smith; father-in-law, the Rev. Thurman Lee Kidd Sr.; and an infant grandchild.

DOROTHY V. CRAWFORD
Dorothy Virginia Crawford, 83, died Thursday, Feb. 14, in a Nags Head nursing home.
Mrs. Crawford was born in Fremont and was a homemaker. She was the daughter of the late James and Glennie Bailey Davis and the widow of the late Ellsworth Walter Crawford.
Mrs. Crawford is survived by a son, Kenneth E. Crawford Sr. and wife, Kelly Anne, of Kill Devil Hills; a sister, Shirley Newsome of Fremont; a brother, Howard Davis of Goldsboro; and a grandson, Kenneth E. Crawford Jr. of Kill Devil Hills.
Memorial services will be scheduled at a later date.
Twiford Colony Chapel, Manteo is assisting the family with arrangements.
BARBARA K. WOODLEY
Barbara Key Woodley, 70, of Sanford, died Saturday, February 23 at First Health Moore Regional Hospital.
She was born in Randolph County, daughter of the late Gurney Martin Key and Clara Maude Hutchens Key. She was preceded in death by brothers, Glenn W. Key and Brady Key; and a sister, Betty Godfrey.
Funeral services were Wednesday, February 27 at 2 p.m. at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Eugene Powers officiated. Burial was at Grace Chapel Cemetery.
Mrs. Woodley is survived by her husband, Robert Woodley of Pikeville; son, Ricky Poole and wife, Angela, of Sanford; daughter, Rita Cameron and husband, David, of Sanford; step-daughters, Anette Wicker and husband, Don, of Pikeville; brother, Javan Key and wife, Joyce, of Sanford; sisters, Juanita Hall and husband, Jack, of Sanford, Judy Kellam and husband, Thomas, of Hampstead; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.
