Sager files for NC House

21 February 2008 — Wayne County Commissioner Efton Sager has filed for the District 11 seat in the North Carolina House of Representatives. Commissioner Sager is in his second term on the Wayne County Board of Commissioners representing District 4, and is seeking to replace Rep. Louis Pate, who will be running for the State Senate.

"For the past eight years, it's been my honor to serve the hardworking taxpayers of Wayne County as a member of the Board of Commissioners. As a member of the State House, I want to continue to work on improving the ability of local governments to provide quality services to our citizens. W\e must work to improve our schools, expand our roads, and recruit new industry and better jobs for the people of Wayne County.

"The citizens of Wayne County know my commitment to protecting personal property rights. As a member of the House, I will vote for the Constitutional Amendment limiting the use of eminent domain, and I will fight to give homeowners a real voice in the annexation process. We must end the practice of forced annexation in our state.

"Holding agencies and leaders accountable is the key to controlling wasteful spending in state government. We cannot allow the current practices at the Department of Transportation to continue to delay needed projects and then cut corners in road construction, which cost millions of taxpayer dollars to fix. It's time to reform this agency, end the annual raid on the Highway Trust Fund, and once again make North Carolina the 'Good Roads State.'

"We need conservative leadership in Raleigh to restore responsible government, and focus the people's hard-earned tax dollars on providing quality schools, better roads, and better paying jobs for the citizens of North Carolina. We need leadership that represents the values of the citizens of Wayne County. I want to provide that leadership."
