RENNIE FAYE BLACKBURN Rennie Faye Blackburn, 78, of the Brian Center in Goldsboro, a former resident of Pikeville Family Care, died Wednesday, February 13. She was born in Duplin County on December 9, 1929 to the late James Edwin Blackburn and Sallie Williams Blackburn. She was a member of Woods Grove P.F.W.B. Church for 58 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Raymond Blackburn and Elbert Blackburn. Funeral services will be held today (Friday, February 15) at 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mike Grady and the Rev. Doug Radford officiating. Interment will be Saturday, February 16 at 11 a.m. at Willow Dale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday following the service at the funeral home. She is survived by her brother, Carl Allen Blackburn and wife, Eunice, of Spencer; her nieces, Linda Midkiff and husband, Bob, of Pikeville, Maria Brooks and husband, Len, of Nicholson, Ga.; her nephews, Thomas Andrews and wife, Laurie, of Creedmoor, Herbert Andrews and wife, Judy, of Albertson, Pat Andrews and wife, Sally, of Chapel Hill; 11 great-nieces and nephews; and 10 great-great-nieces and nephews.
ADAM R. MOZINGO Adam Roland Mozingo, 87, died Wednesday, February 13 at Britthaven. Born November 25, 1920, he was the husband of Margaret F. Mozingo and was the son of the late Amy and Fred Mozingo. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, February 16 at 2 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park with the Rev. Edward Carter officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Marie Busdieker, Pikeville. In addition to his wife he is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Freddie and Diane Mozingo of the Faro community; three daughters and a son-in-law, Marie and Mickey Busdieker of Pikeville, Evelyn Radford of Goldsboro, Shirley Johnson of Fremont; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. AUGUSTINE MAY ADKINS Augustine May Adkins, 69, of Goldsboro, died Tuesday, February 12 at her home. Mrs. Adkins was born in Pike County, Ky., on May 21, 1938, to the late Arnold and Ersie May. Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 13 at 7 p.m. from the chapel of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro with visitation afterwards. The Rev. Danny James officiated. A graveside service will be held today (Thursday, February 14) at 11 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont. She is survived by one son, James Adkins and his wife, Denise, of Goldsboro; three daughters, Melissa Bogey and her husband, Horace, of Goldsboro, Nikki Carter and her husband, Rodney, of Pikeville, Teresa Adkins of Goldsboro; one brother, Plenney May and his wife, Gail; two sisters, Debra Hill and her husband, Jim, Connie Charles and her husband, Robert, all of Pikeville, Ky.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. MATTHEW COLEY SR. Matthew "Bud" Coley Sr., 78, of Fremont, died on Monday, February 11 at his residence. He was born September 29, 1929. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 16 at 1 p.m. from the Greater Morning Star Holiness Church, 705 S. Sycamore St., Fremont, with Elder Johnnie Sherrod officiating. Burial will follow in the Turner Swamp Cemetery, Eureka. A viewing will be conducted on Friday, February 15, at Hamilton Funeral Chapel, 423 S. James St., Goldsboro, from 1 to 8 p.m. Also, a wake will be held at Hamilton Funeral Chapel from 7 to 8 p.m. with the family present to receive other family members and friends. He is survived by his wife, Vivian T. Edmondson Coley; his children, Vickki Coley-Beltran of Fayetteville, Ga., Matthew B. Coley Jr., Angela Coley-Newsome and Linda Coley-Smith of Fremont, Anthony J. Coley of College Park, Ga., Rodney E. Coley of Pikeville, La-Rephia Coley-Jackson of Alexandria, Va.; one brother, Mack Whitley; six sisters, Dardress Jones of Portsmouth, Va., Alice of Ohio, Geraldine of New Jersey, Connie and Linda of Greensboro, Hannah of Clinton, Mattie of Wilson; 26 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. REV. HAYWOOD L. HARRELL The Rev. Haywood L. Harrell, a resident of the Pines, died Monday, February 11. He was a native of Rich Square in Northampton County. He was born to the late K.L. "Dock" Harrell and Blanche Peele Harrell on April 4, 1913. The Rev. Harrell married, on Nov. 15, 1939, the late Dorothy Stallings Harrell of Durham. They served 38 years in the N.C. Conference of the United Methodist Church in 38 churches. He retired in 1977. The Rev. Harrell received his ministerial education at Duke University and Duke Divinity School. Funeral services will be held today (Thursday, February 14) at 3:30 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Martin Armstrong, the Rev. T.C. West and the Rev. McGee Creech officiating. Burial will follow in Pineview Cemetery near Seven Springs. He is survived by a daughter, Genette H. Tate and husband, Walter; two sons, Linwood E. Harrell and wife, Brenda, of Fuquay-Varina, Ernest S. Harrell and wife, Diane, of Kinston; five grandchildren, Denise Poole and husband, David, of Raleigh, Donna Tillman of Pikeville, Dianne Wiley of Pensacola, Fla., Gina Harrell Barbour and husband, Mark, of Fuquay-Varina, Christopher Harrell of Florida; three great-grandchildren, Thomas Poole of Raleigh, Katie Stilley of Pikeville, Michael Stone of LaGrange; his sister-in-law, Ruth B. Harrell of Raleigh; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Meeter H. Todd and Flossie H. HAROLD JACKSON MCROBERTS Harold Jackson McRoberts, 82, of Pikeville, died Monday, February 11 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. Harold was born in Beckley, W.Va., on September 26, 1925 to the late Herbert E. McRoberts and Lillie Dunnagan McRoberts. He retired as a superintendent from Franklin Baking Company with 25 years of service and had also worked with Sunbeam in Beckley, W.Va., with 29 years of service. Harold was a member of Freedom Baptist Church. Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 13 at 1 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Jackson officiating. Burial followed in Wayne Memorial Park. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Ryan Williams; his three brothers and two sisters. PAUL ORIS HOWELL SR. Paul Oris Howell Sr., 78, of Goldsboro, died Sunday evening, February 10, at Wayne Memorial Hospital. Paul was born in Wayne County on December 4, 1929 to the late Redden Howell and Fannie Davis Howell. He was married to the late Esther K. Joyner Howell. Paul was a retired foreman with Seegars Fence Company. He was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church. Paul retired from the U.S. Air Force with over 23 years of service. Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 13 at 3:30 p.m. at First Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. John Hill officiating. Burial followed in Willow Dale Cemetery. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Paul O. Howell Jr. and his grandson, Matthew Howell.
