Falcon boys topped by Hunt

14 February 2008 — The momentum of senior night wasn’t enough to secure a win for the Aycock boys, who fell to Hunt 81-58 on Friday night.

The Warriors came out of the gate with the clear intention of holding the Falcons down. They racked up 21 points in the first quarter, while the Falcons managed to only post five points. The Falcon boys tried to catch up in before the half, earning 21 points to Hunt’s 19, but couldn’t bridge the gap created in the first quarter of the game.

Hunt boosted their lead again in the third period, and maintained their winning lead in the final period, ousting the Falcons 41-32 in the second half, seizing their 23-point victory.

Isaac Ryals and Khendre Reid were the lead scoring men for the Falcons, earning four points each. Tyheim Pitt and Jonathan Williams followed with six points each, and Bobby Artis contributed five. Jordan Riley and Jordan Yawn each had four points, while Andre Bryant had three and Michael King had two.

Eastern Wayne boasted a big win over Aycock on Monday night, defeating the Falcons by more than 40 points.

The Warriors dominated from the start, earning 11 points in the first quarter, while the Aycock boys only managed two. By the half, the Falcon score had moved up to seven, but Eastern Wayne had earned 27.

The Falcons seemed to get into the game in the third period, earning 16 points while Eastern Wayne had 15. But the Warriors again seized the lead and increased their margin in the final period, earning a whopping 37 points while the Falcons only got 11 more on the board. Eastern Wayne earned the win with a 79-36 lead.

Ryals and Riley each had five points, the highest individual score for the night. Young, Reid, and Bryant had four points each, while King contributed three. Artis, Yawn, Williams, and Pitt each had two points for the Falcons.

Aycock will play their final game of the 2007-2008 season at Southern Wayne on Thursday night.
