stantonsburg police report

31 January 2008 — The Stantonsburg Police Department reported the following incidents:

James Edward Gardner, 66, of Wilson reported on January 11 that someone had passed worthless checks at the Piggly Wiggly. He reported that a total of five worthless checks, totaling $1,160, had been passed at two separate locations including the Piggly Wiggly in Stantonsburg.

Ronald Brandon Jones, 21, of Elm City was arrested on January 20 for driving while impaired. The officer observed Mr. Jones operating a vehicle at 70 mph in a 55 mph zone, and while pacing the vehicle, the officer saw him take a wide right-hand turn crossing into the opposite lane of traffic. After initiating a traffic stop, the officer noticed the smell of alcohol and asked Mr. Jones to step out of his vehicle. Mr. Jones blew a .15 blood alcohol level when tested at the side of the road, and was arrested. He was taken to the Wilson County Sheriff’s Department, and was released on a $1,000 bond.
