Fire at Aycock Birthplace31 January 2008 — Investigation continues at the C.B. Aycock Birthplace fire site. NC Pickle PrincessApplications are now being accepted for the 2008 North Carolina Pickle Festival Princess Pageant! The pageant is to be held on February 23, 2008 at the Mount Olive Historic Assembly Hall in Mount Olive. The pageant is open to ages 0 through Mrs. and the 2008 North Carolina Pickle Princess Court will be celebrity guests at the North Carolina Pickle Festival. Inter-faith breakfastThe City of Goldsboro's Community Affairs Commission, in conjunction with Wayne County, will host its first annual Inter-Faith Breakfast on Friday, February 1 at 8 a.m. at the Herman Park Center, 901 E. Ash Street, Goldsboro. Five ministers from different denominations will bring three-minute greetings. Cost is $7 and reservations are required by January 25, by calling the Community Affairs Office at 580-4359. Storytime for preschoolersPreschool story time for children ages 2-5 is held at the Fremont Library on Monday mornings at 10 a.m. Children are invited to come and participate in songs, craft projects, and the reading of fun books. Fremont Free ClinicThe Fremont People's Free Clinic is held every third Saturday of the month, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at 107 Ward Street. Please come fasting if you would like your labs checked.
