TIM BISSETTE

Timothy Noel Bissette, 42, of Pikeville, died Tuesday, January 15 in a work accident at Nags Head.

Tim was born in Wayne County on June 26, 1966 to Paul Bissette and Edna Forehand Bissette of Pikeville. He was an employee of T.A. Loving Company.

Funeral services were Saturday, January 19 at 11 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Whitfield and the Rev. Bill Rose officiating. Burial followed in Pikeville Cemetery.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his faithful and loving wife, Tracy Davis Bissette; his brothers and sisters, Edward Bissette and wife, Janet, of Smithfield, Gail Barnes and husband, Jerry, of Pikeville, David Bissette of Pikeville, Randy Bissette of Pikeville, Ernie Bissette and wife, Vicki, of Pikeville, Adrian Bissette and wife, Christine, of Dover, Del.; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Judy Davis of Goldsboro; his sister-in-law, Darlene Robbins of Goldsboro; and his nephews, Brandon Robbins and Jacob Robbins.

Memorials may be made to The First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1100 The First Church Road, Goldsboro, N.C. 27534.

GRACE E. BYNUM

Grace Edwards Bynum, 89, of Stantonsburg, died Friday, January 18.

She was born in Stantonsburg in Wilson County on August 31, 1918, daughter of the late Luther Kenneth Edwards Sr. and Blanche Ivey Edwards. Siblings include the late Kenneth Edwards and his wife, the late Howard Edwards of Stantonsburg and Tom Edwards and wife, Shirley of Wilson. She was the wife of the late James Wooten Bynum.
She graduated from Stantonsburg High School and attended Flora MacDonald College in Red Springs.

In 1938, Grace married James Wooten Bynum. Grace and James Bynum were the parents of Elizabeth "Betty" Ivey Bynum, born on May 10, 1939. Betty married Frank L. "Buzzie" Walston Jr. of Walstonburg in 1959. They have one son, Wade Wooten Walston. Wade is married to Angel Combs Walston of Walstonburg; they have three children, Bynum, 9, Garrison, 3, and Lindy Grace, 6 months.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, January 21, at Tabernacle United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at the Stantonsburg Cemetery.

ALBERT EXUM

Albert Junior "Airport" Exum, 58 of Dudley, formerly of Fremont, died January 18 in Wayne Memorial Hospital.

He is survived by two daughters, Vangeline D. Artis of the home and Deonne Exum of Albany, N.Y.; three sisters, Revida Hamilton of Wilson, Ruby Coney of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Lunette Evans of Goldsboro; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Funeral services will be noon Tuesday, at Christ Centered Church on Florida Street in Goldsboro. Burial will be in Fremont Cemetery. Viewing will be held Monday, 2-7 p.m., at McIntyre Funeral Chapel. The family will be present from 6-7 p.m. Services entrusted by Carlton L. Gray Funeral and Cremation Services, Raleigh, N.C.

GLADYS G. HOWARD

Estella Gladys Bryan Garris Howard of Pikeville died at the Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro on Wednesday, January 16.

Gladys was the daughter of John William and Chellie Anna Andrews Bryan. She was born near Pikeville, and attended school in Belfast. She taught home economics, reading and health education at Rosewood High School, and was manager of the cafeteria at the Pikeville elementary and high school. Gladys was a member of Pleasant Grove Free Will Baptist Church in Pikeville. She was a member of the Pikeville Garden Club and of the David Williams Chapter in Goldsboro of the Daughters of the American Revolution. In 1937 she married Eugene Garris, who died in 1990, and Hugh Howard of Pikeville in 1995.

Funeral services were held in the sanctuary of the Pleasant Grove Free Will Baptist Church in Pikeville on Saturday, January 19, at 2 p.m., followed by burial at the Pikeville Cemetery.

She is survived by her daughter, Carol Lynn McKnight and son-in-law, Sam McKnight, of Raleigh; two grandsons and granddaughters-in-law, Neal McKnight and Melanie Johnson McKnight of London, England, Andrew McKnight and Samantha Corson of Philadelphia, Pa.; great-grandchildren, Madeline, Hannah and Andrew McKnight of London, Bolton and Reed McKnight of Philadelphia.

Memorial gifts may be made to Pleasant Grove Free Will Baptist Church or to the charity of your choice.

Seymour Funeral Home is assisting the family with the service.

TIMOTHY N. BISSETTE

Timothy Noel Bissette, 42, of Goldsboro, died suddenly Tuesday, January 15 while working on his job in Nags Head.

Funeral arrangements are pending with Seymour Funeral Home. The family will be at the home of his mother-in-law, Judy Davis of Goldsboro, and also at the home of his parents, Paul and Edna Bissette of Pikeville.

 

EFFIE L. BLAKE

Effie Lee Blake, 76, of Smithfield, died Sunday, January 6 at Johnston Memorial Hospital.

Born June 20, 1931, in Johnston County, she was a daughter of the late Nathan and Ethel Blake.

The funeral was held Saturday afternoon, January 12, at St. Mark AME Church in Smithfield. Burial followed at Sunset Memorial Park.

Surviving are seven brothers and sisters, Carrie Bradley and Minnie Williams of Smithfield, Earlene Dunston of Pikeville, Richard Blake Ayers of Washington D.C., Roger Blake of Smithfield, John Blake of Pikeville, and Sam Blake of Princeton; four grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

JESSE L. CROCKER

Jesse L. Crocker, 53, of Goldsboro, died Sunday at home.

Jesse was born on January 5, 1955 to the late Letha Pate Crocker and late Jim B. Crocker of the Pikeville Community. He was preceded in death by a sister, Patsy Ann Crocker; a brother, Bobby C. Crocker; a sister-in-law, Lillie H. Crocker; and a nephew, Bobby C. Crocker Jr.

Funeral services were held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 15 at Pinkey Baptist Church, Fremont. The Rev. Kevin Drake officiated. Interment was 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 16 at Stoney Creek F.W.B. Church Cemetery, Goldsboro.

Surviving is his wife, Sherry Sheets Crocker; a son, Jed Austin Crocker of Belfast; a stepson, Wayland Hoggard of Belfast; three brothers, Travis Crocker and his wife, Kim, and their son, A.J. Crocker, of Kenly, Sammy Crocker and wife, Sandy, and their children, Crystal and Nick Crocker, of Fremont, and Jeff Crocker and wife, Janet, of Pikeville.

Memorials may be made to Pinkney Baptist Church, 3157 N.C. 581 Highway North, Fremont, N.C. 27830.

GLADYS HOWARD

The funeral service for Estella Gladys Bryan Garris Howard will be in the sanctuary of the Pleasant Grove Free Will Baptist Church in Pikeville on Saturday, January 19 at 2 p.m. followed by burial at the Pikeville Cemetery. Before the service, visitation will be 1-2 p.m. in the fellowship hall.

Arrangements are with Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

 

MARGARET S. SELLERS

Margaret Stancil Sellers, 80, of Arlington, Va., died Thursday, January 10.

Born June 22, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Clyde Stancil.
One child survives.

A funeral Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 18 in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma with the Father Tom Norris officiating. Burial will follow at the Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont. Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Friday just prior to the funeral Mass.
