17 January 2008 — The Wayne County Commissioners met this week.


Movie night

St. Joseph United Methodist Church in Pikeville will have a community movie night this Friday. The family-friendly movie will begin at 7:00 and refreshments will be provided at no cost. All in the community are invited to enjoy a film and fellowship this Friday night.


WCC business plan

The Business and Industry Center of Wayne Community College will offer the free seminar “Develop A Business Plan That Works For You” 6-9 p.m., Tuesday, January 29, in Room 104 of the Walnut Building on the college’s main campus in Goldsboro. Call (919) 735-5152, ext. 334 to pre-register by January 25.

The seminar, presented by Jess McLamb, will cover the basics that new and existing businesses need to put together a winning business plan necessary to start or grow the business, apply for a loan, or create a road map for successful operation.

MLK program

There will be a Martin Luther King, Jr. Program on January 21 at the Norwayne Alumni Building in Fremont from 10 am to noon. The guest speaker will be retired Command Sergeant Major Tony Moore, a native of Fremont. Everyone is welcome.

The Norwayne Alumni Building is located at 106 Branch Street.

Pancake supper

The Fremont Missionary Baptist Church will hold a Pancake Supper on Tuesday, January 22 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Adult tickets are $5 per plate, children 5 to 10 years old are $2, and children 5 and under eat free. The menu includes sausage, pancakes, and a beverage.


Storytime for preschoolers

Preschool story time for children ages 2-5 is held at the Fremont Library on Monday mornings at 10 a.m. Children are invited to come and participate in songs, craft projects, and the reading of fun books.


Fremont Free Clinic

The Fremont People's Free Clinic is held every third Saturday of the month, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at 107 Ward Street. Please come fasting if you would like your labs checked. The clinic is sponsored by Duke Med Students, Goshen Medical Center, and your local Fremont Area Health Coalition. Call 242-3126 or 242-8009 with questions.
