Lady Falcons fall to undefeated Beddingfield

17 January 2008 — Despite their best efforts, the Aycock girls basketball team couldn’t topple undefeated Beddingfield in their conference opening game. The Falcons lost 87-43 to the Bruins, falling to 1-12 for the season.

The Bruins’ offense toppled the Lady Falcons early on, while their defensive tactics barely let the Aycock girls keep the ball long enough to score. By half time, the Beddingfield girls had outdone what would be the Aycock ladie’s final score.

Going into the second half down 54-28, the Falcons just couldn’t keep up. The girls scored 15 more points before the close of the game, while Beddinfield put another 33 on the board.

Chantel Gaines had the bulk of Aycock’s score, earning twenty points while no other player even had double digits. Brianna Reid and Yolanda Pitt each had five points. Stephanie Orosco had four, while Courtney Sheeks had three. A. Fortner, Tori Benton, and Felder each had two points.

The Aycock girls will not play again until Friday, when the Falcons host Kinston High.
