10 January 2008 — Students from Aycock's DECA chapter went to Norwayne on Tuesday.


Tutors needed, will train

The Wayne Community College Literacy and Basic Skills Program needs volunteers to tutor adults in literacy and life skills. Volunteers are asked to give as little as two hours a week.

The program will hold orientation and training sessions to certify volunteers as Partnership Approach to Literacy (PAL) tutors. The free training consists of four sessions set for 5:30-8:30 p.m. on Jan. 15, 16, 22 and 23 in Room 220 of the Walnut Building on the Wayne Community College main campus in Goldsboro. Leach reports for duty

Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class Curtis L. Leach, son of Garry Sherrod of Stantonsburg, recently reported for duty aboard the fleet ballistic missile submarine USS Ohio, homeported in Bangor, Wash.

Leach is a 2003 graduate of E. T. Beddingfield High School and joined the Navy in February 2006.


Storytime for preschoolers

Preschool story time for children ages 2-5 is held at the Fremont Library on Monday mornings at 10 a.m. Children are invited to come and participate in songs, craft projects, and the reading of fun books.


Fremont Free Clinic

The Fremont People's Free Clinic is held every third Saturday of the month, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at 107 Ward Street. Please come fasting if you would like your labs checked. The clinic is sponsored by Duke Med Students, Goshen Medical Center, and your local Fremont Area Health Coalition. Call 242-3126 or 242-8009 with questions.
