JIMMY CRAWFORD James Leslie “Jimmy” Crawford III, 58, of Pikeville, died Monday morning, December 17 at his home, surrounded by his family. Jimmy was born in Wayne County on April 19, 1949 to Mevis Williams Crawford of Pikeville and the late James Leslie Crawford Jr. He owned and operated Crawford Furniture in Pikeville and Crawford Appliance in Goldsboro. Jimmy was a graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School and was also a graduate of High Point University. He was a faithful member of St. Joseph United Methodist Church, where he served as superintendent of the Sunday school and was a member of the Methodist Men. Jimmy was a member of the Pikeville Lions Club and the Southern Home Furnishing Association. He was a faithful supporter of Charles B. Aycock High School and served on their Advisory Council. With the expectation of a large gathering of family and friends, a service to celebrate Jimmy’s life will be held Wednesday, December 19 at 2:00 p.m. at Pikeville Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. William Creech officiating. Burial will follow in Pikeville Cemetery. In addition to his mother, Jimmy is survived by his wife, Sheila Sasser Crawford; his daughters, Lindsay Crawford, Meredith Crawford, Leslie Crawford and Sarah Crawford, all of the home; his sister, Beth Crawford Hill and husband, Robert E. Hill of Raleigh; his brother, David Williams Crawford and wife, Ramona R. Crawford of Monrovia, MD; his nieces, Elizabeth Hill, Stephanie Crawford, and Christina Crawford; and his nephews, Robert Hill, Dustin Hill, John Hill and Joseph Crawford. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to St. Joseph United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 43, Pikeville, NC 27863. The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 18 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his home, 107 N. Fort Street, Pikeville.
17 December 2007 WILLIAM 'UNKA' CUDDINGTON SR. William "Unka" Henry Cuddington Sr., 71, of Pikeville, died Friday, December 14. A funeral service will be held tonight (Monday, December 17) at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro with visitation afterwards. Dr. Don Sauls and the Rev. Bill Cotton will officiate. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Narron Family Cemetery in Kenly. Mr. Cuddington was born in Wayne County on Aug. 10, 1936, to the late Frank and Smithey Cuddington. Mr. Cuddington was retired with several companies as a truck driver. He is survived by his wife, Janet Cuddington; a son, William H. Cuddington Jr. and his wife, Marie, of Goldsboro; two daughters, Dawn C. Padgett and her husband, Doug, of Pikeville and Debra L. Cuddington of Pikeville; one brother, Harold Cuddington and wife, Georgia, of Fremont; two sisters, Jean Mooring of Goldsboro, Bonnie Bogue and her husband, Freddie, of Clinton; three step-children, Adam Barfield, Amber Barfield and Miranda Barfield; four grandchildren, Stephanie Padgett, William H. Cuddington III, Brandon E. Hope and Jeremy Padgett; and one step-granddaughter, Natalie Sanchez. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cuddington was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Lou Wells Cuddington. ELLSWORTH 'CRICKET' DAIL Ellsworth "Cricket" Herman Dail, 75, of Goldsboro, died Friday, December 15 at home. Funeral services were held Sunday, December 17 at 4 p.m. from the chapel of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory with visitation afterwards. The Revs. Dennis Pollock and Ken Powell officiated. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 18 at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Princeton. Mr. Dail was born in Wayne County on June 23, 1932 to the late Frank and Addie Dail. He was a member of Spring Hill Free Will Baptist Church and was the former owner and operator of Fastener's Supply of Goldsboro. He is survived by his wife, Melba K. Dail; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Joyce and Frank Barnes of Goldsboro, Lois and James Arthur of Princeton, Cindy and Carlton Aycock of Pikeville and Linda Raynor of Pikeville; one brother, Donald Dail of Cove City; one sister and brother-in-law, Effie and Carroll Cook of Mount Olive; five grandchildren and two grandchildren-in-law, Dawn B. Evans, Amanda A. and Mikhail Arkaev, Jennifer A. and Brad Massey, Sterling Raynor and Daniel Raynor; and two great-grandchildren, Ashlea and Austin. In addition to his parents, Mr. Dail was preceded in death by one grandson, Jamie Arthur; four brothers; and two sisters.
