Aycock heads to WRAL Invitational

20 December 2007 — The Aycock wrestlers faced some very intense competition at the WRAL Invitational at Athens Drive High School in Raleigh this past weekend, but the boys still had two of their own to place in their weight divisions.

Khiry Reid, who has had an outstanding season wrestling in the heavyweight division, earned his fourth tournament gold this weekend. Reid defeated Havelock by decision, 10-8 to win the championship round and claim first place honors.

Kevin Carmel also earned fourth place in the 135 division. Carmel, who has gone back and forth between wrestling at 135 and 140 this season, has performed consistently and competed in the final rounds of every tournament he’s competed in. This Saturday, Carmel fell in 4:48 to Parkland in the consolation round, earning a fourth-place finish.

The Falcons will wrestle at home on Thursday night, taking on Wilson Hunt, and will compete in the Knightdale Duals at Knightdale High School this weekend.
