Lady Cobras continue perfect season

13 December 2007 – The Norwayne boys’ basketball team improved this week, earning their first win of the season at Dillard Monday night.

The boys played a close game, finishing in the lead with a final score of 35-28.

AJ Mundle was the lead scorer for Norwayne this week, with 13 points in Monday night’s game. Bryant Stafford had eight points, while Jaylen Williams had five.

The win puts the boys at an even 1-1 for their conference, and boosts their overall record to 1-2.

The Norwayne girls stomped Dillard in their game Monday night, sailing to a 58-18 win in their so far perfect season.

The Lady Cobras dominated from the start, earning 20 points in the first period alone while limiting Dillard to a mere three points. The girls had mounted a 34-9 lead by halftime, and continued to amass baskets until finishing out the game with a 40-point lead.

Kayla Williams was the Cobras’ lead scorer with a career-high 16 points. Ivy Hartzell followed with 11 points, while Brooke Bell and Imari Howell each had six points, while Courtnei Gilbert, Natana Martin, and Alana Moore each had four points. Tychea Newsome earned three points, and Amber Rose and Connor Davis each had two points.

Norwayne will play their last game before Christmas this Thursday, traveling to Brogden.
