highway patrol report13 December 2007 – The North Carolina Highway Patrol reported the following accidents: Rosa Smith Sewell, 80, of Sewell Drive in Pikeville was involved in a single-vehicle accident on December 6. Mrs. Sewell’s vehicle was traveling east on Pikeville-Princeton Road when it rounded a curve and ran off the road to the right. The vehicle then struck a driveway culvert and reentered the roadway, crossing the center line and running off on the left side. The car then struck a brick driveway culvert before colliding with a ditch bank and coming to a stop. The culvert sustained an estimated $1,000 worth of damages, and Mrs. Sewell’s 2002 Buick sustained an estimated $2,000 worth of damages. Michael Gregory Gryzbek, 21, of Norwayne School Road struck a deer while traveling north on Highway 581. Mr. Gryzbek’s 193 Nissan sustained an estimated $1,500 worth of damages. An unknown driver wrecked a 2004 Dodge belonging to Walter Terrell Hawkins of Snow Hill on Baker Street in Eureka on December 4. The vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway and collided with a barn before coming to a stop. The barn and nearby landscaping, belonging to Lonnie Chase, sustained an estimated $500 worth of damages. The vehicle sustained damages of about $2,000.
