CBA boys take losses on road, at home6 December 2007 – Aycock’s boys basketball fell to 2-4 for the season this week, with a loss on the road at Clayton followed by a loss at home against North Lenoir. Thursday night, the boys started off lagging behind the Comets, falling eight points behind at the end of the first period. By halftime, their deficit had jumped to 27 points. The Falcons stepped up their offense in the second half, narrowing the gap between themselves and Clayton for a short time, but their efforts weren’t enough to catch the Comets, who earned at least 20 points in each of the first three periods. The night ended with a 75-42 loss for the Falcons. Khendre Reid was the night’s lead scorer, with 14 points. Reid was also a perfect shot on the line, sinking all four of his shots. Leonard Compton also had a strong night, contributing nine points to the score. Johnathan Williams had eight, while Isaac Ryals and Kyle LaFlamme each had three. Friday night was a closer competition for Aycock as they took on North Lenoir at the Falcon’s Nest, but the boys chalked up another loss to bring their season record to 2-4. The boys were only outscored by a basket or two in each period, but were never able to overcome the small defecits, resulting in a 17-point loss. The Falcons trailed by 9 points at the half, and added another two to the deficit before the fourth period. In their last chance to catch up, the boys were outscored by another six points, enough for North Lenoir to surmount a 68-51 win. Reid also had a strong game Friday, contributing a game-high 14 points and making six of his eight free throw shots. Compton added nine points, including all four of his free throws. Tyheim Pitt had eight points for the night, while David Gurganus had six and Ryals had four. Williams had three for the Falcons. The Aycock boys were scheduled to play at Southwest Edgecome on Wednesday, and will travel to Goldsboro on Friday night.
