Aycock girls win over Greene Central

By Barry Merrill
NL Publisher

29 November 2007 — The Aycock girls got tested in the second half Tuesday night, but held on to post a 30-27 win over Greene Central for their first win of the season.

Early in the second half the Lady Rams closed within one, 19-18, but the Lady Falcons went to a press and CBA ran off six straight points to open a good working margin.

The Lady Rams took another shot late, but CBA was able to make enough shots in the final minutes to hold them off.

Chantel Gaines led CBA with 17 points. Yolanda Pitt had seven, and Tori Benton had four.

After the game, Aycock Coach Carrie Reynell said she was pleased with the effort, as they cut their turnovers in half from the previous games, and increased their rebounding.

She said they went to the press, knowing that they weren’t very good ball handlers, and exposed that for their advantage.

The Lady Falcons are on the road at Clayton Thursday, host North Lenoir on Friday, and travel to Southwest Edgecombe on Tuesday.
