Norwayne ends fall sports on high note

8 November 2007 — As Norwayne wrapped up their fall sports season on Thursday with games against Rosewood, all three teams finished near the top of their conference for the season.

In football, the Cobras ended their season with a 6-0 win over the Eagles.

Willie Sutton was a key offensive player on Thursday, scoring a touchdown on Norwayne’s only scoring drive of the evening. Sutton rushed for 70 yards during the final game. He was also the team’s lead tackler. Chris Dalton also had four tackles for the night.

The team was undefeated in the conference, with a 4-0 record, and a 4-3 overall record for the season. They earned the title of Division I champions.

The volleyball team also earned first place in their division, finishing the season with perfect record. A three-game win against Rosewood put the team at 14-0 for the season and 6-0 for the conference.

Final scores for the game were 25-12, 25-18, and 25-16. Conner Davis and Imari Howell earned 12 service points apiece, while Rachel Jordan had 11.

Norwayne’s co-ed soccer team also finished well this season. A win on Thursday against Rosewood put the Cobras at 7-2-2 for the season and in second place for the conference.

The Cobras defeated the Eagles 5-0, with an excellent showing from Trey Millard, who scored four of the Cobras’ five goals. The fifth was earned by Chase Thompson.

Juan Pina had two assists, while Cameron  Taylor, Brian Johnson, and Thompson each had one assist. Goal keeper Nick Hilker had three saves.
