Aycock takes ECC finals

1 November 2007 — The Aycock soccer team sealed their bid for the conference title win a 4-2 victory Wednesday night over Eastern Wayne in the ECC finals.

The rain didn’t slow the Falcons as they took the field, but Eastern Wayne got the first goal of the night. Alex Rodriguez soon followed with the first goal for the Falcons on a deflection from a shot by Jorge Delgado. Rodriguez landed another goal and Delgado earned one as well before the end of the half, giving Aycock a 3-1 lead.

But the Warriors weren’t out of it yet, and they intended to go down fighting. Eastern Wayne scored a second goal at the top of the second half, closing the gap to 3-2. But Rodriguez sent in his third goal of the night to give Aycock the win.

The boys will host the first round of 3A East playoffs against Northern Vance, a wildcard entry, on Wednesday.
