Northern Lights ECA meeting

Submitted by Anne M. Smith

25 October 2007 — Northern Lights ECA celebrated the birthday of our much loved member Doris Davis. As a member, Doris has attended our meetings on the local level and county level regularly. She has stitched dolls for the other members to stuff and made tote bags for battered women. Doris has candle wicked many quilt squares over the years. Those squares are used for the top of our Daffodil Quilt. On occasions, she teaches our educational programs. Thirteen of our fifteen members were present to honor Doris on her birthday.

Members paid their dues for 2008. Club Officers and Issue Coordinators will attend a training session November 6 at 9:30 a.m. County Council will follow at 11 a.m.

Members voted to give donations to the Eureka, Fremont, and Pikeville fire stations, Ronald McDonald House, Kitty Askins, Fremont Methodist Church, Boys and Girls Club of NC, and the House of Fordham. Members brought in cranberry sauce for this month and chose to bring in canned sweet potatoes to be donated before Thanksgiving to the House of Fordham.

Items will not be sold by our members at the Christmas Bazaar. However, county quilt tickets were purchased with $100 being sent to our county treasurer.

Christmas boxes for Samaritan's Purse will be collected November 12 and carried to Adamsville.

Audrey West is our nominee for Outstanding Woman in Agriculture. Their sons work along with Audrey and her husband Jerry, creating a family business on the farm.

Members were urged to attend our Area Meeting October 23. Refreshments will be served at 5 p.m. with the meeting starting at 5:30 p.m.
