Falcons' Homecoming Queen
18 October 2007 — Stacy Johnson was crowned 2007 CBA Homecoming Queen Friday night.
Fremont to shut off water
The Town of Fremont will temprarily turn water off at about 9:00 am on Tuesday October 23 and it will stay off until about 6:00 pm. The town is replacing water lines that are too close to manholes. This will not affect the entire town; only the area approximately north of Main Street and east of the railroad tracks will be affected. If you have any questions, please call 242-5151. Thank you for your patience while this project is being completed.
WRAL azaleas for Norwayne
Norwayne Middle School has been selected by NC Beautiful to receive a special beautification prize of 100 azaleas, for use in the school's 2007 beautification projects. The award is part of NC Beautiful's 22nd annual Azalea Celebration, which rewards North Carolina community groups for improving their communities through creative landscape projects.
"This is the first time that our school has received this outstanding recognition from WRAL-TV 5," said Principal Mario Re. "Planting the azaleas will be a hands-on activity beneficial for the beautification of our campus. The students will gain an appreciation of science and the environment."
Sixth grade students will plant the azaleas on the school's campus in various locations. Parents are also volunteering to help with the project.
Healing service
St. Joseph United Methodist Church will hold an open healing service on October 18. The service will be open to the whole community; anyone in need can feel free to come and let the Holy Spirit have Its way. The service will begin at 7:00 and will be held in the sanctuary at St. Joseph, located on Church Street in Pikeville.
Martin Luther King, Jr. Day 2008
On January 21, 2008 the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Committee in conjunction with the City of Goldsboro and Wayne County will host the 20th observance of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday.
Ads may be purchased for the souvenir program booklet. The deadline for all ads is Friday, December 14.

Special Olympics volunteers needed
Athletes competing in the Special Olympics North Carolina Fall Games need your help. November 9-11, these athletes will go for the gold in bocce, cycling, golf, roller-skating, and soccer at venues in High Point. Volunteers are needed for sport-specific roles, including officiating, scorekeeping, and line judging; others are needed for volunteer check-in, lunch serving, or award presentation. Storytime for preschoolers
Preschool story time for children ages 2-5 is held at the Fremont Library on Monday mornings at 10 a.m. Children are invited to come and participate in songs, craft projects, and the reading of fun books.
Cocaine Anonymous meetings
