Sheriff's office makes arrests

18 October 2007 — Four Fremont residents have been charged in a drug operation.

The Wayne County/Goldsboro Drug Squad and Aggressive Criminal Enforcement Team conducted an investigation in the area of Mill Street, Fremont, after receiving complaints from residents involving the selling of illegal drugs. An initial arrest was made Monday, October 8. On Tuesday, October 9, a search warrant was served on 108 W. Mill Street. Crack cocaine, marijuana, and a firearm were located in the residence. The investigation is continuing, with more arrests possible.

Ramon Abdul Simon Grandy, 28, of 302 Dock Street, Fremont, was arrested on October 8 charged with possession of crack cocaine and driving while license revoked. His bond was set at $3000.

Arrests made on October 9 were Kenneth Ray Spruill, Jr., 18, and Christopher Jay Chavis, 46, both of 108 W. Mill Street, Fremont, and Alvin Jammal Elliot, 20, of 107 Dickerson Street, Fremont. Spruill and Elliot were charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver crack cocaine, and possession of marijuana; bond was set at $5000 for each. Chavis was charged with possession of marijuana, and released on written promise.

An arrest has been made in the burning of an unoccupied Pikeville building.

After an investigation by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office, Anthony Justin Bass, 17, of 163 Canary Lane, Pikeville, was arrested on October 9 and charged with breaking and entering, two counts of larceny after breaking and entering, possession of stolen goods/property, and the burning of an unoccupied building, and placed under a $25,000 unsecured bond, and a $4,500 secured bond.

On October 5, fire departments responded to a structure fire at 143 Dunwoody Drive, Pikeville. Bass was also charged for a residential break-in in the Fallingbrook Community on August 27.
