JV Falcons at 1-0 conference

11 October 2007

The Falcons’ junior varsity football squad posted a win over Beddingfield Thursday night to even up their season record to 3-3, and kick off conference play with a 1-0 record.
The Aycock boys had a firm grip on the lead at the end of the second quarter with two touchdowns. The defense held the Bruins scoreless for the first half.
Though the Bruins came back with a little more intensity in the second half, scoring a touchdown in each of the latter quarters, the Aycock squad seized the win with a touchdown and a two-point conversion in the last quarter. Aycock walked away with a 22-12 victory.
Shepard Whitfield led in rushing, accumulating 100 yards and one touchdown. Shalando McBride also earned 60 yards and a touchdown.
David Gurganus led the Falcons in the air, earning 22 yards and a touchdown pass to Matt West.
On the defensive side, Craig Murdock and Davonte Petteway had an interception each. Greg Johnson and Antonio Dunston each had a fumble recovery.
The JV will travel to Kinston this Thursday.
