Pigskin results4 October 2007 — It was pretty much a landslide. Nearly all of the entries in the Pigskin Pickin’ Contest figured Louisville would swamp NC State. Ditto for Virginia Tech over UNC, and Miami over Duke. They also took Clemson over Georgia Tech, Houston over ECU, and Rutgers over Maryland. No one was able to sniff out all of the upsets in an upset laden weekend. The best anyone could do was 5-1. Jim Shackleford of Fremont still believed in Clemson, as did Valerie Howell of Smithfield, and David Hill of Goldsboro didn’t have faith in East Carolina. That threw it to the tie-breaker. Mr. Hill was eliminated for favoring the loser in the designated game. Both Mrs. Howell and Mr. Shackleford predicted 17 points for Houston in their loss, but Mr. Shackleford added a touchdown more for ECU predicting 28 versus Mrs. Howell’s 21. That put him closer to the actual high scoring final of 37-35. For his best effort, Mr. Shackleford claims two tickets to Saturday’s Central Florida at ECU game. Runner-up honors go this week to: Gina Childress, Brody Grantham, H.T. Grantham, Mike King, Mario Re, Kay Rose, Todd Rose, Matt Spence, Stephen Tart and James Vinson. Honorable mentions this week go to: James Ballance, Ronnie A. Barnes, Chris Keen, Nathaniel L. Sanders Jr., Billy Suggs, Denny Tart, and Eddie Yelverton. This week’s winner will get two tickets to the big showdown between NC State and ECU on Saturday, October 20 at 4:30. Remember, you can’t win if you don’t enter. Clip out the entry and mail it in, bring it by our office, or enter online now.
