Neal, Melvin wed4 October 2007 — Regina Ann Neal and John Lamont Melvin of Durham exchanged vows in a double-ring ceremony July 15, 2007 at 4:00 at St. James Church of Christ (D.O.C.), with Minister Tony Sutton officiating. The bride is the daughter of Curtis Lee and Mary Bass Neal of Fremont and the granddaughter of the late Abraham (A.B.) and Pauline Langston Neal of Fremont and the late James Woodrow and Dellaway Potts Bass of Fremont. She is a 1993 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School and a 2005 graduate of Wilson Technical Community College with an associates degree in business administration. She is employed as a Consumer Loan Specialist at The Heritage Bank. The groom is the son of Selema Alston of Durham and the grandson of the late Walter and Hattie Alston of Durham. He is a 1991 graduate of Durham High School and is a member of Gamma Psi Phi social organization. He is employed as an Operational Supervisor at Sento in Raleigh. The bride was escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents. She wore a formal floor length White Satin, off shoulder gown enhanced with a sweetheart neckline. The fitted waistline embellished with sequins, crystals and pearls flowed into a full A line skirt which cascaded into a cathedral length train adorned with lace inlets, sequins and pearls. For her headpiece she chose a double tiered veil of lace embellished with crystals and trimmed in satin beads along with a crystal adorned tiara. Her bouquet was made of white miniature calla lillies accents with pink and green roses. Amanda Neal Woods, sister of the bride, served as matron of honor, while Sharon Green, sister of the bride, and Ty'Amber Neal, daughter of the bride, were maids of honor. Bridesmaids were Tiffany Melvin, sister of the groom, and Dana Lucas and Davita Artis, friends of the bride. David Lockhart, Derek McGee, Drew Mayo, friends of the groom, and Ayinde Melvin, son of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were George Neal and Jerome Austin, Brothers of the bride. Jacqueline Woods, niece of the bride, and Ja'Lynn Pittman, daughter of the bride, were flower girls. Jelani Melvin, son of the groom, was ringbearer. Beverely Banks, Blessed and Beyond Bridal Showcasing directed the wedding. Presiding at the register was Dyamond Corley and Jameisha Ruffin, nieces of the groom. Shannon Neal and Fabrianna Wright, nieces of the bride, distributed programs. Sound and music was provided by Greg Lewis. Gift attendant was Mary Day. Hostesses were Vivian Coley, Brenda Paul, and Barbara Midgett. Reception DJs were Bill and Betty Perdue of Selma. Scroll Attendant was Kandice Neal, niece of the bride. Videographers were Reco Woods, brother in law of the bride, and LeShaun McKenzie, friend of the couple. Photography was done by Blounts Photography of Greenville The couple was chauffered in a ’57 Chevy driven by the father of the bride. Dianne Holmes assisted with the reception coordination. A program of wedding music was provided by Steve Lewis, pianist and Catherine Swinson, friend of the bride and Sharon Melvin, sister of the groom, vocalists. Drummer was Darrick Swinson. A dinner and dance reception was held at Lane Tree Conference Facility in Goldsboro. After a wedding trip to Caesars Pocono Palace in Pennsylvania, the couple reside in Kenly. On June 30, a miscellaneous shower was hosted by Dana Lucas and the bride’s sisters and mother. On July 11, a gift card shower was given by the Credit Department at The Heritage Bank in Lucama. On July 13, a gift card shower was hosted by the youth counselors of St. James Church.
