Creels entertain seniors


Pikeville High School reunion   

Pikeville High School’s class of 1945 will have their 62nd annual class reunion on Thursday, October 11. The group will meet for lunch at 1:00 at Ryan’s Restaurant in Goldsboro on Berkeley Blvd.


EMI reunion  

Edwards Military Institute Alumni fifth reunion and Pineland College Alumni fifth reunion will be November 2-4 at the original campus site in Salemburg, NC. Highlights are: a Friday night kick-off dinner, Saturday morning golf tournament, Saturday evening dinner/dance in the old gym, and a 9 a.m. Remembrance Service with taps on Sunday.

Some rooms are still available at the Justice Academy, which is located at the old Pineland College site. Handicap rooms are still available. Reservations are requested as soon as possible.

Eureka UMC program  

Eureka United Methodist Church will have two special events on Sunday, October 7. A Blessing of the Animals Service will be held at 1:30 at the church.

An outdoor concert will be held at the church the same evening. The concert will begin at 6:00 and will feature The Grateful Alive from Fremont United Methodist and Beloved from Stoney Creek Church. The concert will benefit the Zimbabwe Orphans Endeavor (ZOE). Bring your blanket or lawn chair and come enjoy an evening of good music.


Martin Luther King, Jr. Day 2008  

On January 21, 2008 the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Committee in conjunction with the City of Goldsboro and Wayne County will host the 20th observance of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday.

Ads may be purchased for the souvenir program booklet. The deadline for all ads is Friday, December 14.

Special Olympics volunteers needed

Athletes competing in the Special Olympics North Carolina Fall Games need your help. November 9-11, these athletes will go for the gold in bocce, cycling, golf, roller-skating, and soccer at venues in High Point. Volunteers are needed for sport-specific roles, including officiating, scorekeeping, and line judging; others are needed for volunteer check-in, lunch serving, or award presentation. Revival

Fremont Free Will Baptist Church will have revival starting Sunday, September 30 and going daily through Thursday, October 4. The service on Sunday will begin at 6:00, and the weekday services will start at 7:00. Reverend Barry Stallings will be the guest speaker.


Storytime for preschoolers

Preschool story time for children ages 2-5 is held at the Fremont Library on Monday mornings at 10 a.m. Children are invited to come and participate in songs, craft projects, and the reading of fun books.


Cocaine Anonymous meetings

Cocaine Anonymous meets every Wednesday morning at 8 a.m. at Carolina Treatment Center, 1700 East Ash Street, Suite 200, Goldsboro. The group is 12-step focused, open, and non-smoking. For more information, call Kim at 919-583-9326 or Amy at 800-810-8423, ext. 145.
