L. Falcons fall short against Beddingfield4 October 2007 — Though the Lady Falcons' volleyball team didn't earn a win this week, the girls exhibited excellent playing, especially during a five-game match up against Beddingfield on Tuesday. As they hosted the Bruins, the girls got off to a fairly strong start, matching the girls point-for-point for most of the first two games. But as the end of each game neared, the Lady Falcons fell short, losing both games 18-25. The third game, however, proved to be a turning point for the ladies, who dominated with a 25-10 win. The fourth game ended with a close score of 25-22, forcing a fifth game. Though the Falcons played hard, the Bruins outdid the girls for the win, 9-15. Beth Carter led the Falcons with 11 kills and eight aces. Bridgette Briggs also played a strong game with nine kills. Lauren Adcock had five kills, and Leigh Smith had five aces. The tight competition with Beddingfield came after another close loss against Southern Wayne last Tuesday night. The ladies lost in three games, with final scores of 26-24, 25-21, and 25-22. Carter and Briggs were again key players in Tuesday's game. Carter had 12 kills, while Briggs had 10 kills and one block.
