CBA varsity girls at 1-3; JV, 5-1

27 September 2007 — Two losses from the Charles B. Aycock varsity volleyball team dropped the ladies to a 1-3 conference record this week, with an overall record of 2-8.

The ladies lost to Fike in a non-conference match on Tuesday in three games. The ladies put forth a good effort, but couldn’t quite bolster their score to squeeze in a win over Fike. The final scores for the game were 25-18, 25-19, and 25-21.

Beth Carter and Bridgette Briggs were lead players for the team, with seven kills apiece.

The ladies had another conference loss on Thursday night when they faced Eastern Wayne, losing in three games. Final scores were 25-20, 25-15, and 25-17.

Briggs and Carter were leaders in this game as well, with Carter earning seven kills and two aces, while Briggs had two kills. Emily Jordan also had an ace.

The junior varsity, however, earned a win against Eastern Wayne Thursday night. The JV ladies notched a win in three games, with final scores of 18-25, 26-24, and 27-26. Cara Fredrick and Miranda Aycock had key service points in the tightly played third game. The JV is 6-4 overall and 5-1 in the conference.

The ladies played Southern Wayne at home on Tuesday night, and will host defending conference champions Beddingfield on Thursday.
