Boys' soccer takes first

27 September 2007 — The boys’ soccer team at Charles B. Aycock had an excellent week, earning two wins and bolstering their conference record to 3-0, earning the first place position in the league.

Wednesday night, the boys seized a 5-1 victory over Kinston. Tyson Pearson and Alex Rodriguez had two goals for the night, and Gavin Forrest added on the fifth with a converted penalty kick. Keeper Kyle La Flamme had four stops.

A pivotal win on Monday night earned the boys the top spot in the conference with a 2-0 win over Fike. Taking five shots within the first ten minutes, the boys were eager to claim the spot. Rodriguez and Patrick Shultze each contributed a goal, and keeper Brandon Davis had six saves to hold Fike at 0.

This week’s win brings the team’s overall record to 8-2-1. They played at home against Eastern Wayne on Wednesday, and will face Southern Wayne at home on Monday.
