'If Walls Could Talk' coming

HGTV’s “If Walls Could Talk” is coming to the area to film homeowners who have made surprising discoveries while they were moving in and fixing up their homes. Their finds range from old letters and photos to art, books… even toys and clothing that all add up to the story of their home’s past. The owners will tell their stories and share the history with viewers.

If your home has a story to tell or you know about one that does, please send an e-mail to Jason Mercado at jmercado@highnoonentertainment.com with “casting call” in the subject header, or call 303-712-3109.

Special Olympics volunteers needed

Athletes competing in the Special Olympics North Carolina Fall Games need your help. November 9-11, these athletes will go for the gold in bocce, cycling, golf, roller-skating, and soccer at venues in High Point. Volunteers are needed for sport-specific roles, including officiating, scorekeeping, and line judging; others are needed for volunteer check-in, lunch serving, or award presentation. Volunteer training will be provided. To volunteer, visit www.sonc.net or call the Volunteer Hotline at 1-800-843-6276.

Wayne libraries need your opinion

Wayne County Public Library is asking for input on the services and materials offered to the public. Surveys will be available in all libraries – Goldsboro, Mount Olive, Seven Springs, Pikeville and Fremont.  The survey is also available online: go the Library’s website, www.wcpl.org, and click on “2007 Citizen Survey” at the bottom of the page.  The information gathered from the results of this survey will be used as the Library’s next strategic plan is written.

Storytime for preschoolers

Preschool story time for children ages 2-5 is held at the Fremont Library on Monday mornings at 10 a.m. Children are invited to come and participate in songs, craft projects, and the reading of fun books.
