JV fall to Goldsboro; Freshmen take win  

13 September 2007 — The JV Football team also recorded a loss against Goldsboro this week. The JV Cougars earned a 28-18 win over the Falcons.

The Cougars gained an early lead with a touchdown in the first quarter, and bumped their score to 14 in the second. The Falcons narrowed the gap, earning 12 points in the second quarter. They held the Cougars at 14 for the third quarter while brining in a third touchdown of their own to take an 18-14 lead. But the Cougars bounced back in the fourth, with two more touchdowns and successful kicks to take the win.

Shepard Whitfield led the Falcons in rushing, gaining 27 yards. In the air, David Gurganus added a total of 110 offensive yards on eight completed passes.

Matt Woodard led in receiving, catching four for a gain of 85 yards, including two touchdown passes. Davonte Patteway caught three passes for a total of 20 yards, and Davonte Jackson also caught a 5 yard pass.

Josh Dixon led the defense, with three tackles. The JV will travel to play at Fike tonight.

 

CBA’s Freshman football squad recorded a win this week with a 24-0 victory over East Wake Thursday night.

Tyler Farmer led the offense with three touchdown passes. All three were received by Craig Murdock. Marquis Bryant also had a 40-yard touchdown run in Thursday’s game.
