JV Falcons take down Greene Central

6 September 2007 — A high-scoring second quarter gave the Falcons' JV Football squad an edge in a match against Greene Central this past Thursday. The Falcons seized the win, 34-22.

Greene Central scored the first touchdown of the match in the first quarter. But the Aycock boys fought back, bring in 20 points of their own in the second quarter, while holding the Rams at 6.

In the second quarter, the Rams outscored Aycock, 16-14. But the surge from Greene Central wasn’t enough to top the Falcons, who walked away with the win.

David Gurganus lead the team in passing, gaining 76 yards on three passes, including one touchdown pass.

Matthew Woodard received two passes for a total of 47 yards, and Davonte Patteway received a 24 yard pass.

The JV Falcons earned a total of 344 yards of offense Thursday night. Shepard Whitfield led the team on the ground, gaining 94 yards on eight carries. Woodard gained 50 yards on eight carries. Shalando McBride gained 69 yards on five carries, and Gurganus gained 20 yards on five carries. Patteway gained 20 yards on seven carries.

Defensively, Whitfield, Woodard, and J.J. King each had an interception.

The JV squad plays again today (Thursday) at home against Goldsboro.
