WCC announces fall business seminar schedule30 August 2007 — The Business and Industry Center of Wayne Community College has set a schedule of 13 seminars for this fall designed to prepare the business person to meet the ever increasing challenges facing small business. The seminars are: How To Start a Business, Harry Overby, 6-9 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 6; Start and Grow Your Business with Expert Advice and a Loan (Microenterprise Loan Program), Vu Donie, 6-8 p.m., Mondays, Sept. 10-Nov. 5; Financial Empowerment for Beginners, Claudia Waters, 2-4 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 12; Introduction to Grant Writing for Nonprofits, Dorothy Moore, 6-9 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 25; Create a Winning Business Plan, Mike Collins, 6-9 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 26; The Top Traits of Highly Effective Women, Barnsley Brown, 1-4 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 4; Double Your Contacts! Double Your Income!, Barnsley Brown, 6-9 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 4 Send the Complainer Away Happy, Kathy Sprau, 1:30-4:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 16; Financial Keys to Winning in Business, LaVone Hicks, 6-8 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 18; Spanish for Tax Preparers, Carlos Cotto, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 23 (Preregister and pay the $38.55 book cost for this seminar by Oct. 5.) Stress Management, Mike Herring, 1:30-4:30 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 1; Basic Bookkeeping and Taxes for Small Business, Jess McLamb, 6-9 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 6; and Dealing with Difficult People, Mike Collins, 9 a.m.-noon, Thursday, Nov. 15. All seminars will be held in Room 101 in Walnut Building on the main campus in Goldsboro. There is no fee for these seminars. Call the Business and Industry Center at (919) 735-5151, ext. 334 at least two business days prior to the seminar to register. In addition to seminars such as these, WCC’s Business and Industry Center provides one-on-one consulting services, training designed for individual industries’ needs such as the Focused Industrial Training and the New and Expanding Industry Training programs, and a resource center. The Center, which is open to the public, is located in the Walnut Building at the college.
