Mooring arrested

  

Christopher Dale Mooring, 21, of 1127 Saulston Road, Goldsboro, has been arrested and charged with two counts of breaking and entering, two counts of larceny, and two counts possession of stolen property. The charges pertained to the early morning break in of two motor vehicles on the 2000 block of Nahunta Road on July 13 of this year. All property taken in the break in was recovered and returned to the owner. Mooring was considered a fugitive from justice, and was using at least three residences in the northern part of Wayne County to elude officers. He was arrested at his father's residence, 1127 Saulston Road.


Officials seeking information on Goldsboro woman

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office is requesting the assistance of anyone who knew Mrs. Leislotte Severt of 221 Brookwood Drive, Goldsboro, or any of her relatives. Mrs. Severt passed away at her home on Sunday, August 12, 2007. The Sheriff’s Office has been unable to locate any of her relatives or relatives of her late husband, Wilfred Louis Severt. Mrs. Severt was born in Germany and apparently moved to the United States in the 1950s. She was married to Wilfred Louis Severt until his death in January 1998.

The Sheriff’s Office is requesting that anyone having knowledge of any of the Severt’s relatives to please contact the Det/Sgt. Robert Chunn at 919-731-1373 or Captain Tom Effler at 919-580-4067.


Revival scheduled

Union Grove Original Free Will Baptist Church will be having revival services starting on August 26. The services will conclude on Wednesday night, August 29. The Sunday night service will begin at 6:00. Monday through Wednesday the service will begin at 7:00. The guest speaker will be the Rev. Steve Holder of Bethel Church in Goldsboro. The revival services will be held at the church, located at 1283 Union Grove Church Road, Fremont.


Homecoming at Fremont Missionary Baptist

Fremont Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate homecoming on August 26 at 11:00. The church invites all former members, families, and friends to join the congregation in celebrating homecoming. The service will feature the mixed choir of Morning Star, and Rev. BJ Ward of Meadows will be the guest speaker. A covered dish luncheon will follow.


WCC offers broker course

Wayne Community College Continuing Education will offer a 15-week Real Estate Broker Pre-License course this fall. Classes will be held 6-9 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, September 4 through December 11 in Room 217 of the Wayne Learning Center on the main campus in Goldsboro. Leading the class will be Robert McClave, an N.C. Real Estate Commission-approved instructor. Cost is $60 plus the price of the textbook. Students can register and pay the fee at any time in the Continuing Education Office on the first floor of the Walnut Building. For more information, contact Margaret Roberton at (919) 735-5151.


Wayne County Schools Open Houses

Open House for local schools will be held next week, giving students and parents a chance to get acquainted with their teachers for the school year. Norwayne and Charles B. Aycock will hold open house on Wednesday, August 22 from 5–7. Local elementary schools will have open house on Thursday, August 23 from 5–7.

Youth For Understanding is seeking families to host their international exchange students arriving in August. From over 50 countries, these students are between 15-18 years old, speak English, have good grades and exciting hobbies. They also come with their own spending money and insurance.
