End of summer treatWanted: Christopher Dale Mooring
Christopher Dale Mooring, white 21-year-old male, 5'9", 180 lbs, dark hair, blue eyes, medium skin tone, is being sought by the Wayne County Sheriff's Office. Mooring has been seen on Ivey Road in Pikeville and Hillsdale Drive in Fremont, as well as Wal-Mart in Goldsboro. Mooring is wanted for two felony counts of breaking and entering, larceny, and possession of stolen goods, and failure to appear in court in Carteret County. Anyone who has information about Mooring's whereabouts is asked to call the Wayne County Sheriff's Office for Detective Sgt. Carl Lancaster at 731-1480 or Crime Stoppers at 735-2255. Officials seeking information on Goldsboro womanThe Wayne County Sheriff’s Office is requesting the assistance of anyone who knew Mrs. Leislotte Severt of 221 Brookwood Drive, Goldsboro, or any of her relatives. Mrs. Severt passed away at her home on Sunday, August 12, 2007. The Sheriff’s Office has been unable to locate any of her relatives or relatives of her late husband, Wilfred Louis Severt. Mrs. Severt was born in Germany and apparently moved to the United States in the 1950s. She was married to Wilfred Louis Severt until his death in January 1998. The Sheriff’s Office is requesting that anyone having knowledge of any of the Severt’s relatives to please contact the Det/Sgt. Robert Chunn at 919-731-1373 or Captain Tom Effler at 919-580-4067. Landfill will accept storm debrisDue to the extensive damage caused by last Friday’s storm, the Wayne County landfill will be accepting storm yard debris at no cost to citizens through Saturday. The debris must be taken to the county landfill, located at 460 B South Landfill Road in Dudley. Convenience centers will not accept the debris. The landfill is open Monday-Friday from 7:30-4:30, and Saturday from 8-4. Homecoming at Fremont Missionary BaptistFremont Missionary Baptist Church will celebrate homecoming on August 26 at 11:00. The church invites all former members, families, and friends to join the congregation in celebrating homecoming. The service will feature the mixed choir of Morning Star, and Rev. BJ Ward of Meadows will be the guest speaker. A covered dish luncheon will follow. Pikeville car thiefA Pikeville area resident faces possession of a stolen auto charge. Johnston County Sheriff’s Deputies charged John Wayne Goff, 20, of Stone Glenn Rd., Pikeville, last Wednesday after finding him in possession of a 1998 Cadillac DeVille that had been reported stolen by Clarence Bass of Selma. Bond was set at $20,000 secured in the case. Wayne County Schools Open HousesOpen House for local schools will be held next week, giving students and parents a chance to get acquainted with their teachers for the school year. Norwayne and Charles B. Aycock will hold open house on Wednesday, August 22 from 5–7. Local elementary schools will have open house on Thursday, August 23 from 5– 7. Wayne County Schools substitute teacher trainingWayne County Public Schools will host a two-day substitute teacher training session on August 23-24 at the administrative offices on Royall Avenue. Session one on August 23 will meet from 8 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Session two on August 24 will meet from 8 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Substitute teacher training is required for any person who wants to substitute teach in Wayne County Public Schools.
