Book Sale this weekend

2 August 2007 — The Fremont Friends of the Library will hold a book sale to help raise money for the library building renovation project. The book sale has been preceded by a two month long book drive, to give the community a chance to donate books, DVDs and CDs to be sold at the August sale.

The book sale is set for Saturday, August 4, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, August 5 from 1-4 p.m. The sale will be held at the Fremont Library, 202 N Goldsboro St.

Steve Knotts, chairman of the friends group, said that they hope to make the book sale an annual event. Members of the group have been sorting and prepping the hundreds of volumes that have been donated. “There are a lot of very good titles by well known authors,” Knotts said. “It’s amazing how well the community has risen to the occasion.”

The library friends group has other fund raising projects scheduled throughout August, including a barbecue chicken dinner to be held on August 21. “The barbecues are very popular events,” Knotts said. “This will be the third barbecue that the group has had, and they are always a sellout.”
