highway patrol report19 July 2007 — The North Carolina Highway Patrol reported the following accidents: Lee Ernest Davis, 29, of Pikeville and Brenda Mayberry Taylor, 46, of Pine Level were involved in an accident on Highway 117 and Hinnant Road on July 11. Mr. Davis was traveling north on Highway 117 and Mrs. Taylor was stopped waiting to turn left onto Hinnant Road. Mr. Davis’ vehicle failed to stop, and struck Mrs. Taylor’s vehicle. Mrs. Taylor’s 2000 Toyota sustained an estimated $6,000 in damages, while Mr. Davis’ 1996 Honda sustained an estimated $3,000. Mr. Davis was cited for failure to reduce speed. A vehicle with an unknown owner was discovered in a ditch on July 4 in Pikeville. The vehicle, a 2002 Ford, apparently ran off the roadway while traveling south on Daw Pate Road. The vehicle ran off to the left and collided with a ditch, where the driver abandoned it. The 2002 Ford sustained an estimated $500 in damages. Qvontray Sanchez Pitt, 21, of Fremont was involved in an accident with Patrick Shane Canady, 31, of Goldsboro on July 3. Mr. Pitt failed to yield as he crossed the intersection of Memorial Church Road and Highway 581, causing Mr. Canady’s vehicle to strike his. Mr. Pitt’s 2000 Plymouth sustained an estimated $5,000 worth of damages, and Mr. Canady’s 1999 Dodge sustained an estimated $2,000. Mr. Pitt was cited for failure to yield right of way.
