Nahunta ECA’s July meeting

19 July 2007 — The Nahunta ECA held its July meeting on July 6 at the Club Building. Ocalla Harper and Delma Coston were hostesses.

The program, entitled “Friendships Among Women,” was given by Judith Aycock. She stated that statistics prove friendships are vital to women. Friendships allowed women to live more stress-free lives and have more joyful living experiences. Women in the study were usually healthier, as well. Always take time to develop close friendships with other women.

A thank you note was read from Pat Kissinger, thanking the group for its contribution toward her Cancer Care Kits, which she provides to women who have breast cancer.

The president reported that County Council will meet on August 7 at 10:00. Our club will be responsible for the registration table, a flower arrangement, the “thought for the day,” and light refreshments served prior to the meeting.

A Senior Citizens Contest Committee will meet on August 9 at 11:00 at the Learning Center. A leader training class will also be given.

A nominating committee was appointed to create a list of officers for the 2008-09 year.

The president announced that Linda Pierce has won third place in the state cultural arts contest in the photography category.

Our club voted to make a contribution to the Victory Junction Camp, since it was one of our yearly projects. For another project, we were reminded to bring school supplies to our August meeting. These will be given to children in our schools who have a need for them.

A report was given on the possible changes in ECA that would affect the clubs. An August 3 meeting will be held to further discuss these pending proposals.

Our meeting was closed with a reading of “The ECA Collect.”
