Andy’s supports Fremont library19 July 2007 — The Andy’s Charitable Foundation has committed to donate five thousand dollars to the Friends of the Fremont Library’s building renovation campaign. A portion of the donation will be raised through a fundraising project at the Andy’s restaurant in Pikeville. The Andy’s donation will be given after forty-five thousand dollars has been raised from the drive. Jimmy Williams, the executive director of Andy’s Charitable Foundation, said that by offering the last five thousand dollars, he hoped the community would be encouraged in their efforts to keep the library open. The Library Friends need to raise $50,000 to renovate and refurbish the Fremont Public Library building. In February, the county library board voted to close the Fremont Library, but later committed to keep the library open if a specific list of improvements were made to the library building. The Friends of the Fremont Library is currently conducting a door-to-door contributions drive, has held fundraising dinners, and is planning a book sale for August 4-5. For more information or to make contributions, contact Steve Knotts, Chairman of Friends of the Fremont Library, at 242-6800, or visit www.fremontfriends.org.
