Show your pet some love

12 July 2007 — Downtown Goldsboro invites everyone to join in the fun Tuesday, July 17 from 4-6 p.m. at the Pedestrian Plaza (corner of Chestnut and S. Center Street) for the City of Goldsboro’s Annual Ice Cream Social and Pet Parade. Free Cold Stone Creamery ice cream and Coke products will be available. Prizes will be awarded in eight categories, including Cutest Pet, Best Trick, Best Rescue, Biggest Pet, Smallest Pet, Most Unusual Pet, and the pet with the face that “only a parent could love.” The City is also partnering with the Wayne County Animal Shelter, Wayne County Humane Society, and Diamonds in the Ruff Canine Rescue, for pet care informational tables and an on-site adoption center.

The Pet Contest will begin at 4:30 p.m. and the Parade will start at 5:15 p.m. Registration for both events is free; any donations made will benefit the Animal Shelter, Humane Society, and Diamonds in the Ruff.

Kids will love the free games, prizes, and moon bounce from Balloons & Clowns, and free balloon creations from UB the Clown. Champ the Pony will be displaying all his tricks and giving free pony rides.

Owners must keep pets leashed or caged and must provide current parvo and rabies vaccination records in order to participate in the events.
