Waynesborough holds Summerfest 2007

28 June 2007 — Waynesborough Historical Village, 801 Highway 117 South Bypass, across from the Armory, in Goldsboro, will hold Summerfest 2007 on July 14, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This annual event is a chance for everyone, young and old, to experience life in the 1800s, and the simple pleasures of the “good old days” before video games, television, and telephones. Activities include contests and prizes, races, a raffle drawing, music by The Waterbound Dulcimers, The Wayco Ramblers, and Samantha Casey & the Bluegrass Jam, dancing, Civil War living history, a quilt show, and more. The N.C. Falconer’s Association will display a Birds of Prey exhibit. A guided nature trail walk will begin at 10 a.m. The watermelon eating contest will begin at 1 p.m., with the seed spitting contest to follow at 1:30 p.m. A classic bike show will be held from 10-11 a.m., and a “Poker Run” benefit from 12-5 p.m. Admittance is free, and food and drinks will be available.

If you are interested in having a quilt displayed at the show, from July 7 to July 21, bring your quilt, either finished, in progress, or machine quilted, to the Waynesborough Historical Village on June 30 or July 5. For more information, call 731-1653.
