News Leader holiday scheduleNext week’s News Leader will be produced on a special holiday schedule. With the 4th of July falling on Wednesday, and with no newspaper delivery on that day, next week’s News Leader will be published and distributed to some early. The paper will be going to press on Tuesday, and we hope to distribute to area post offices in time that most post office box subscriptions will be put in their boxes Tuesday. Local route delivery subscribers will not receive their papers until Thursday. Dealers and racks should have the paper Tuesday afternoon. Our normal news and advertising deadline is on Monday for that week’s paper, but we will cut things off this Friday for next week, due to the early deadline. Our office will be closed on Wednesday. We will re-open on Thursday and be on a normal production schedule for the following week’s paper. Pikeville holiday trash scheduleThe Town of Pikeville will pick up garbage next week on Friday instead of Thursday. Mayor Herb Sieger announced the change in schedule at Tuesday’s early July board meeting. The change is due to the 4th of July holiday, which affects their contractor’s schedule of pickups.
