TERESA S. ARTIS

Teresa S. Artis, 55, of Goldsboro, died Friday, June 8 at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

The Princeton native was the daughter of the late Isaac and Ethel Mae Sutton.

She is survived by one son, Christopher Ivory Artis; two daughters, Tonna Latoria Artis of Virginia and Donna Carol Artis of Dudley; two grandchildren, X’Zavier and Kadiah Atkinson; five sisters, Thelma Barfield of Bronx, N.Y., Rosa Thompson of Goldsboro, Sandra Sykes of Princeton, Hattie Montague of Wilson, and Dorothy Loretta of Stantonsburg; two brothers, Jasper Spruill of Smithfield, and Climmie “Hoss” Hillard of Princeton; a very special friend, Purnell Lane of Pikeville; and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

The funeral was held Thursday afternoon at Gospel Tabernacle Church of Deliverance, Goldsboro, with Bishop C.B. Richardson officiating. Burial was in Selma Memorial Garden.

PEGGY D. MARTIN

Peggy Davis Martin, 70, of Eureka, died Friday, June 15 at Duke University Medical Center in Durham.

The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon at Mr. Nelson Baptist Church in Eureka with interment following in the Eureka Cemetery. The Reverend Clyde Johnson officiated.

Mrs. Martin was a retired teacher with the Wayne County School System and a longtime member of Mt. Nelson Baptist Church.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Tracey and Gary Penrod; her sons, William A. “Billy” Martin IV and Jonathan C. Martin and his wife, Wendy, all of Eureka; a brother, Billy Ray Davis of Norfolk, Va.; a sister, Brenda Carol Herring of Duplin County, and two grandchildren, Alyssa Penrod and Haley Martin.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William A. “Bill” Martin III; her parents, Sammy R. and Nettie B. Davis; and a brother, Robert Mitchell “Tinker” Davis.

HERMAN “BUD” BRASWELL

The funeral for Herman “Bud” Braswell, 71, of Fremont, who died Tuesday, June 19 at his home, will be 1 p.m. Saturday at New Daniel Chapel Church. Interment will be in the Fremont Cemetery.

He was survived by his wife, Bessie Braswell, and four children.

Viewing will be 4-7 p.m. today (Friday) at the Rhodes Funeral Home Chapel in Goldsboro.

JERRY E. HOWELL

Jerry Eugene Howell, 18, of Pikeville, died Wednesday, June 20, at home.

A graveside service was held on Friday, June 22 at 11 a.m. at Pikeville Cemetery.

Jerry is survived by his parents, Ransom James Howell and Elizabeth Norvell Howell of Pikeville; three brothers, Brandon Howell, Christopher Howell and Brian Howell, all of Pikeville; four sisters, Chrystal Howell and her fiance, Brandon Woodruff, Jessica Howell, Mandy Howell and Carolyn Howell, all of Pikeville; and his maternal grandparents, Harry and Ann Norvell of Wilson.
