21 June 2007 — Representatives of the following Wayne County Businesses have signed Statements of Support with the ESGR since February 2007, promising to support their employees who are guardsmen or reservists:

Advance Auto Parts, Bennett Auto Parts & Salvage, Cherry’s Computers, City Electric Supply, Dillon Supply Company, Doug Henry Chevrolet Buick Pontiac GMC of Goldsboro, NC, Food Lion Stores (Goldsboro, Mount Olive, and Pikeville), Mercy Medical Clinic, Mount Olive College, National Welders Supply Company, Piggly Wiggly (Mount Olive), Precision Tune Auto Care, Professional Touch, Ryan’s Grill Buffet Bakery, Self Expressions Salon & Spa, Talton & Sons, Target, Walgreens, Wal-Mart (Goldsboro), Wayne Family Medical Center, and Wayne Opportunity Center.

Wayne County businesses can earn the recognition they deserve by providing demonstrated support for the volunteers who serve our nation:

1. Sign a Statement of Support publicly demonstrating support for your employees who serve in the National Guard and Reserve.

2. Review your Human Resources policies to ensure compliance with the Uniformed Services Employment and Re-Employment Rights Act (USERRA).

3. Train your Managers and Supervisors to effectively manage your employees who serve in the Guard and Reserve.

4. Adopt Policies and Programs that are “Above and Beyond” what is required by the USERRA Law.

5. Support ESGR by becoming an advocate for employee service in the National Guard and Reserve which will help to promote the mission of ESGR to other employers.

Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) is a Department of Defense agency established in 1972. The mission of ESGR is to gain and maintain active support from all public and private employers for the men and women of the National Guard and Reserve. ESGR volunteers provide free education, consultation, and, if necessary, mediation for employers of Guard and Reserve employees.

Employers wishing to sign a Statement of Support can call Ginger Huff, local Representative of North Carolina ESGR, at 735-5719 or go online and submit a request at http://www.esgr.mil.

ESGR has a special thank-you to the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce for their continued support, especially Patty Graham, Director of Membership and Marketing.

Please visit them online at http://www.waynecountychamber.com to find out more about the Chamber and the ESGR.
